One Aldwych, London

At the heart of Covent Garden sits London’s cultured, independent hotel. One Aldwych is one of the very few hotels in the capital (or indeed the world) that can say it’s truly independent. Stepping into the lobby is to step into a moment in history, dressed up in style. Built in 1905 as the home of The Morning Post newspaper, it still inspires conversation and connection. Today, the building’s art nouveau curves and stylish flair sit easily with the modern luxuries of this contemporary, forward-thinking hotel.

Described as the hotel for Londoners at heart, guests have access to the finest entertainment and cultural adventures, positioned as the hotel is on the doorstep to galleries, museums, West End theatres and the famous Royal Opera House. For those in need of rest and retreat, there’s time to retreat to the Health Club for a swim, a workout or blissful spa treatment or simply to retreat to their beautifully-crafted room.

Designed to be more than just a place to lay your head, each room and suite embraces a contemporary, stylish character ready to cocoon and enchant. Four Signature Suites each have features unique to the space and views over London’s rooftops, many looking out over Waterloo Bridge.

As London’s only five-star hotel to hold B Corp™ accreditation, the hotel has always had people and the planet at the heart of operations, with responsible and thoughtful decisions playing an integral role in every aspect of the business.

Indigo | Signature restaurant, Indigo, is a neighbourhood jewel famed for flavour. Overseen by Executive Chef Dominic Teague, Indigo’s menu exemplifies an inventive approach to flavours. Dominic goes to extraordinary lengths to source an incredible medley of foods from across the British Isles, working with a network of trusted independent producers who share his commitment to seasonal and sustainable cooking. What you wouldn’t guess, is that the menu is also entirely gluten and dairy-free.

The Lobby Bar | Atmospheric and unmistakably iconic, The Lobby Bar is a London institution – a dynamic drinking destination at the corner of Covent Garden, known for exquisite signature cocktails, large-scale art and master mixologists.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea | Adventure into the magical, mouth-watering tastes of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the hotel’s enchanting afternoon tea inspired by Roald Dahl’s iconic story. In the heart of London’s theatreland, this tea offers a tantalising taste of Willy Wonka’s factory – spot on for spectacular special occasions or simply an afternoon inspired by one of the tastiest tales ever told.

Private Events | Whether it’s an elegant cocktail party, dinner to celebrate good news, a smart business gathering or even a chic city wedding, the event spaces at One Aldwych are designed to be the ideal canvas for your ideas and imagination. Resident florist Mark Siredzuk will have the flowers on point, whilst bespoke menus are sure to suit any occasion.

Named in tribute to the building’s newspaper history, the Press & Type Room can accommodate up to 40 seated guests or 50 standing. From boardoom-style meetings to dressed-up evenings, this versatile space has large windows bringing in plenty of natural light and a view onto the bustle of London life.

The stylish Library is a lovely space for a relaxed drinks reception. With room to mingle, a collection of beautiful books and comfortable sofas set against floor-to-ceiling windows, this tranquil sanctuary can accommodate up to 40 guests.

With its own private entrance, Downstairs at One Aldwych is the largest event space at the hotel. Guests arrive in style down the grand copper staircase into a private bar, below which is a large, open plan space which is ideal for parties of up to 120 standing guests or 60 seated for lunch or dinner.
